Woodworker: Tomoyuki Imada (Woodworks CUE)
Born in Amami Oshima in 1979. Using waste materials from trees that grow naturally on the island, such as Gajumaru and Ryukyu pine, I create flower vases and accessories. Originally, I was working with building materials, and the desire to recycle unnecessary wood sparked my interest in creating works.
Each piece that utilizes the wood grain, knots, cracks, and resin stains in its design is truly one of a kind. Various techniques such as mud dyeing and burning are applied to fully bring out the charm of the wood.
